Why private invoicing matters
Your invoices contain some of the most sensitive data in your business: who you work with, what you charge, when you bill, and how much your clients pay. A single invoice exposes your rate card, your client list, and your revenue pattern. When that data lives on someone else's server, it becomes a target — for breaches, for advertising retargeting, for data brokers, for legal subpoenas, and for the occasional disgruntled employee with database access.
The mainstream invoice tools — Zoho, QuickBooks, Wave, FreshBooks, Invoice Simple — all store every invoice, every client, and every line item on their cloud. Most of them track you across the web with cookies. Some sell anonymised behavioural data to third parties. All of them require an account, which means an email address, which means a marketing channel you did not ask for.
Easy Invoice Generator flips the model. The editor runs entirely in your browser. Your invoices are saved to a private, on-device browser store, which means they live on your laptop or phone — not our server. When you download a PDF, a stateless rendering endpoint produces it on demand and streams it back, without writing anything to disk. The instant the PDF reaches your downloads folder, our infrastructure has forgotten you existed.
The only thing you give up is cross-device sync — which we replace with one-click JSON export and import. You control your backup, you choose where it lives, and no third party can be compelled to hand it over.

What makes this a "private" invoice generator?
Three things. First, we do not have a backend database — every invoice and client is stored locally on your device in a private browser storage area, so your billing data never touches our servers. Second, we do not use tracking cookies, Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party script that watches your keystrokes. Third, you never create an account, so there is no email, no password, and no user record that could ever be breached.
If you do not store my data, how does the PDF get generated?
When you click Download PDF, your invoice is sent to a stateless PDF rendering endpoint that produces the PDF on demand and streams it back to you in a single request. The endpoint does not write the invoice to any database, log the contents, or keep anything after the response. The moment the PDF is downloaded, the data is gone from our infrastructure.
Is this really more private than Zoho, QuickBooks, or Wave?
Yes. Those services require you to create an account, store every invoice and client in their cloud database, and track you with analytics and advertising cookies for retargeting. Easy Invoice Generator has no account, no cloud database, and no retargeting. The trade-off is that you are responsible for backing up your own data — we make this trivial with one-click JSON export and import.
Do you comply with GDPR / CCPA?
We are privacy-by-design, which is the strictest interpretation of both. We do not collect personal data, we do not set cookies, and we do not transfer data across borders. There is nothing to consent to because there is nothing to collect. You do not even need a cookie banner.
What happens if I lose my laptop or clear my browser?
Because storage is local-first, clearing browser data or losing your device means losing your invoices — exactly the same trade-off you get with an offline-first app. That is why we built one-click JSON backup/restore into Settings. Export a backup after a billing cycle, save it to wherever you keep sensitive files, and you can restore it on any device.
Can I use this for my LLC or Ltd business?
Yes. The editor supports business name, tax IDs, VAT numbers, custom tax rates, discounts, payment terms (Net 7/14/30/60/Due on Receipt), line items with quantity and price, and four professional templates. Freelancers, consultants, and small registered businesses use it every day.
